Happy love season, my fellow Mommies! My one-year-old is quite busy this Valentine’s Day! He walks around the house, leaving toys scattered everywhere and attempting to open anything with a latch. I am excited to create memories and establish traditions for Valentine’s Day with my toddler. I hope these ideas inspire you to celebrate the season of love with your little one, too!
1. Keepsake Craft
I am creating a keepsake craft to remember this Valentine’s Day with my toddler. I will use his feet to make a heart on a little wooden sign to create a memento that will remind me of these early days and for love season decoration in the years to come.

2. A Love-Season-Themed Sensory Bin
Sensory bins are a fantastic way for toddlers to explore various textures and materials in a safe environment. This will be my first sensory bin themed around a holiday, and I intend to create themed bins throughout the year!
I use taste-safe, pink moon sand with heart-shaped silicone moulds and sand shovels. I have found some Valentine’s figurines to mix into the moon sand for my little one to enjoy. I ensure the figurines are not too small to avoid any choking hazard.

3. Heart-Shaped Breakfast
My hubby got me the heart-shaped waffle maker I wanted for Christmas! I’m excited to use it to make pink strawberry heart-shaped waffles for my toddler and me for Valentine’s Day breakfast. If I didn’t have the waffle maker, I would have made heart-shaped pancakes using a heart-shaped cookie cutter. I’ve been colouring pancakes and waffles by blending veggies and fruits into a liquid and mixing that into the batter.

4. Valentine’s Outfits
For Valentine’s Day, I bought a cute little red sweater for my son and me featuring a big red heart. I also picked up a long sleep shirt for him adorned with dinosaurs and hearts. This way, we can wear our Valentine’s outfits during the love season leading up to Valentine’s Day.

5. Valentine’s Gift
My mother started this tradition for me as I was growing up. She would get small Valentine-themed gifts or items coloured pink or red and arrange them so that when I woke up and came to the kitchen, I would see my Valentine’s gift.
I purchased my son two love-themed cardboard books, a rubber duck decorated with hearts, some heart-shaped toddler snacks, a stuffed animal with a red heart, and a Valentine’s Day balloon. I will set them on a low surface so he can see the gifts when he wakes up on Valentine’s Day.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day with our little ones presents a fantastic opportunity to create lasting memories and embrace the joy of love in all its forms. I am excited to start these five simple and easy traditions to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my toddler. I hope these ideas inspire you to make this season memorable for your toddler, too!
